School-aged Training Series
The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center
is proud to offer an exciting new training series specifically
focused on the needs of the afterschool program, its staff and
children. These trainings go beyond the pre-service training for
afterschool staff and offer continuing information in child
development, life skills and working with families.
This is a six 6 hour module training
series. Schedule one or schedule them all for your staff! Six
Core of Knowledge credits are given for attendance of the entire
class.

School-age Care and Homework Assistance:
Meeting Needs and Finding Balance
Homework is a challenge for school-age
providers as well as children and parents. Learn strategies for
working with schools and parents as well as creating homework,
and helping students develop problem solving and study skills. (COK
hours: 2 hr C, 2 hr CD, 2 hr CY)
Developing Life Skills for the 21st Century
It isn’t easy being a child in today’s world.
This six hour module concentrates on developing thinking,
problem solving, and communication skills as well as building
positive relationships, self-discipline, and conflict
resolution. (COK hours: 3 hr CD, 3 hr C)
Developing the Whole Child
Discover the importance of art, science,
math, physical education, sports, fitness and well being, and
communication to the development of children. (COK hours: 2 hr
HSN, 2 hr C, 2 hr CY)
How to Grow a School-Aged Child
They aren’t babies any longer, but they
aren’t adults yet either! Growing up whole means creating
programs that provide balance in a child’s day and life. How can
programs meet the unique developmental needs of the school-age
child? Join us and find out! (COK hours: 4 hr CD, 2
hr C)
Family Portraits
21st century families face a variety of
challenges. Traditional family patterns are changing as we are
bombarded with information, technology, and stress. Providers
can help families meet these challenges. (COK hours: 3 hr CY, 3
hr P)
Building a Dynamic School-Age Program
Children in high quality school-age programs
do better in school, learn social skills more efficiently, and
are more engaged in schools and communities. Join us and learn
"best practices" for your program. (COK hours: 3 hr P, 3 hr C)
