LSCCRC HOME

The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center is a non-profit agency that works with parents, child care providers, early educators, businesses and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in Somerset, Worcester and Wicomico counties.  LSCCRC helps child care providers, caring for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children by providing high quality training, program resources and technical assistance. The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center works with all families and providers on the lower shore regardless of income.

Directions:  The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center is located on the east campus

of Salisbury University.  Travel on Salisbury Blvd. (US13) to Milford Street

(between  Dogwood Dr. and Pine Bluff Rd.).  Turn east and immediately go over 

the railroad tracks. Continue one block and make a left on Wayne Street (between the University Fitness Club and the Delmarva Beauty Academy). Make a right into the second parking lot on Wayne Street. The Resource Center is located in the East Campus Complex Building, Suite 500.

OUR MISSION

 

The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center strives to advocate for and  to ensure high quality care of young children.  Our mission is to support child care providers in their efforts to care for and teach young children by providing resources , technical assistance and educational opportunities for their benefit.   Our ultimate mission is the care, well-being and education of young children and those who are responsible for them.

TRAINING

The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center offers training opportunities* for child care providers, pre-school teachers, parents and anyone else interested in quality, up-to-date early-childhood/school age information.

  • Two and three hour trainings are offered several times throughout each month (see training calendar for complete listings).
  • Specialized training series are available such as the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential training, and the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) training.
  • Our trainings are approved by the Office of Child Care. Certificates granted fulfill both licensing and Maryland Child Care Credential requirements. **
  • Training topics include a variety of interesting topics. All trainings are taught by early childhood educators or experts in a variety of fields key to the child care provider.
  • Trainings can be offered in all three counties, although most take place in the LSCCRC training room.
  • Trainings are offered at a low cost.
  • Trainings can be arranged on site.

*You must pre-register for most trainings that are offered.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center provides technical assistance to current or prospective child care providers.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Assistance with licensing compliance issues.
  • Assistance and support handling children’s typical behavior issues.
  • Assistance to child care providers who have questions regarding providing services for special needs children.
  • Assistance and information on accreditation and Maryland Child Care Credential.
  • Assistance and information on applying for available loans or grants for start up, expanding and/or improving the quality of child care.

Services are offered free of charge and can be offered through telephone consultation and/or on site visits.

EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM

The Lower Shore Early Intervention Program (LSEIP) is a program of the Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center, and funded by the Maryland State Department of Education. The LSEIP is designed to serve children ages 0-5, who are demonstrating serious behavioral concerns to their parents and child care providers.

  • :A "Warm Line"is available for child care providers and parents to call for information and brief consultations.
  • Staff will assess children at child care and home.
  • Staff will provide suggestions, and behavioral plans.
  • Staff will provide links for children and their families to the necessary resources in the community.

LENDING LIBRARY AND RESOURCE ROOM

The Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center offers a full lending library for child care providers with materials for infant, toddler, preschool and school-age programs. The Resource Room is open Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturdays 9 to noon., during regularly scheduled trainings, and by appointment. LOCATE CHILD CARE

  • LOCATE Child Care is a free resource and referral service available for parents seeking child care throughout Maryland. 

  • Call 1-877-261-0060 Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

  • The LOCATE database includes family child care sites, center-based child care sites, nursery schools, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and Head Start programs, after-school care sites and summer programs.

  • Experienced LOCATE counselors, trained in early-childhood development, will help parents define their child-care needs and evaluate their options.

  • Information on LOCATE Outreach Programs and child care subsidies is also available.

The Maryland Family Network and LOCATE Child Care are committed to assisting parents in finding quality child care.

Confidentiality Statement:

 

LOCATE Child Care is a free and confidential service available to any parent searching for regulated child care.  The users' names and telephone numbers are collected for follow-up purposes only and are never shared with other individuals or organizations.

 

COMPLAINT POLICIES

 

Complaint Policy pertaining to CCRR Service:

 

All of the Resource Centers of the Maryland Child Care Resource Network strive to provide high quality service to their constituencies.  However, in the event that someone has concerns about an incident regarding some aspect of service at a regional child care Resource Center, or feels that he/she was mistreated by a staff member of a Resource Center, the caller can contact the Resource Center involved.

 

If the person is not satisfied with the way the concern or complaint was handled by the regional Resource Center, he/she can contact the Network manager at the Maryland Committee for Children, Inc. (MCC) at 410-752-7588.  As the Statewide Coordinating Entity, MCC will investigate the complaint and act on it appropriately.
